We are the dedicated team behind The Old Courts Arts Centre in Wigan. Since 2014 we have worked tirelessly to boost Arts & Culture in the town and we have now arrived at our 2nd phase. Having purchased this magnificent gem at auction, we now aim to restore and reinstate The Royal Court Theatre as a vibrant epicentre of theatre, music, dance, comedy and belonging. Wigan has too much to offer to allow another iconic landmark to be forgotten. The theatre has the potential to host a variety of events on a national scale as well as giving our local community a stage to shine. We need your support!
Messages of support
Donna Hall CBE: Former CEO Wigan Council
“Since I first encountered The Old Courts, I have been continually impressed by the team’s dedication, innovation and strategy and also enthused by their commitment to driving positive change to the cultural landscape of Wigan. Since their recent acquisition of the Royal Court Theatre, the interest and excitement has been astounding, perhaps unprecedented. However, to complete the transition from current state to opening night a lot of support is needed. This project presents a genuinely amazing opportunity for businesses to play their part in local heritage and culture.”
Cllr Chris Ready
“What we need really is businesses and communities to get behind this. It would be good to hear all the stories that went on here over the years, but we actually need the finance to support this venue. It is going to be superb and it is going to be (part of) our vision for the future, for the borough, and I think it will regenerate King Street into something that we want it to be.”
Cllr Terry Halliwell
Wigan Council – “Heritage champion, Councillor Terry Halliwell, was invited for a tour of The Royal Court Theatre by The Old Courts . Here’s a sneak preview of the project they have taken on. We’re very supportive of their work and we can’t wait to watch them transform this iconic building. Well done!”
